This will probably be my last update of "being a mommy" until after Claire has turned 1
1!?!!??!
I just can't believe it, I know how silly it sounds but it really has been like a blink of an eye, I constantly have been sitting around thinking about this little nugget and how teeny she used to be and how much she has grown into her own little person who waddles around and loves couscous.
Thankfully we have been doing a lot better when it comes to sleep, I was able to wean her to just one night nursing at around 4am, if she wakes up before that I just go in her room lay her back down and rub her back a little bit, this is usually enough but with her new teeth occasionally we need some tylenol and a few more tears before she falls back to sleep. She is used to her routine and around 7:15pm she usually lets us know she's tired by laying her little head on our laps, its adorable. She tends to wake up for the day at about 5:30/6am and on the weekends she likes to take her nap around 9:30am. It has been nice to get a better routine going and I have been feeling less tired. Sure, we have a bad night here and there but its been a lot better!
10 months and counting, we have hit a lot of bumps in the road but I am thankful for where we are. Last month I had a very hard time when it came to my nipples, we had been fighting thrush for months and eventually I was pumping a lot of blood to go with Claire's milk and it just wasn't working for me anymore. I was scabbing and itchy and could not go 5 minutes [literally] without scratching and causing more open wounds on my breasts. I made a dermatology appointment and found out that what I had was actually eczema that had come on due to stress and it had spread to my eyes and lips and that I will probably continuer to have this issue until i am done breast feeding. I let her know that that was not anytime soon and she helped me set up a plan of ointments and medication to get us through it. It took about a week but I am so happy! We are almost totally healed, it still itches but there is no more blood and I think we will all be ok and I am thankful that we finally worked it out. Pumping at work has been a lot harder, we are getting busy and it just has been harder to take the time to get it down but my fridge and freezer supply is doing pretty good and I am still pumping as often as I possibly can. I am excited to see how long we can go.
We have a really good groove going and I am happy that not only do we parent well together but that we still are having fun as a couple. I think we could use a date night soon but overall we get lots of time to do us things and I am looking forward to our next time away with just the two of us.
We have so much fun on the weekends and I am loving all the time we have for play, her new gym classes and just being lazy together.
These two are the best, being a mommy almost a year in and I have to say I am really glad I did it.
xoxo
